The College for International Co-operation and Development (CICD) offers you the possibility to make a change by taking part in a course and becoming a climate activist. The course is divided into three different parts:
- 1st period: You will take part in a 6-week-course that takes places in Winestead, UK. During this time, you will train, plan, and prepare the work before taking action in India.
- 2nd period: You will work as a climate activist in India for 11 weeks, working on environmental projects with the local communities. One week is set aside for volunteers to travel and experience India.
- 3rd period: After coming back to Winestread you will make a conclusion of the work you have done in India and the time you spent there, providing useful information to the next team of activists. This last period lasts 4 weeks.
The activities you will carry out in India strictly depend on the time of the year and involve:
- Tree planting;
- Construction of biogas plants;
- Working with farmer’s communities;
- Installing solar energy charging stations;
- Implementing low technology water techniques;
- Training farmers to work using water saving cultivation methods;
- Constructing and installing smokeless stoves.
The course fees cover accommodation and food for the whole duration of the project.
No former experience is required to apply for the course. If you want to make a change, this is a good chance to take action both in Europe and in India. Click here for further information or send an e-mail to marie@cicd-volunteerinafrica.org
