Traveling, why do it? It’s fun, exciting, and allows us to see many parts of the world we live in. Traveling makes the world bigger, and makes us aware of how we treat one another and the planet as a whole. It can also be a hassle because of planning, figuring out what you need, -or don’t need,- on the trip.

Traveling can be simple or complex, depending on where you’re traveling to and how many days you’re staying.

But in the end, traveling is worth it because the experience when you get to the destination is amazing and an experience you can’t help but share with everyone you know or don’t.

Now what can I tell you about traveling? It’s honestly an experience everyone should do at least once in their life. To be clear, I’ve only traveled in the U.S., but those couple of times of traveling helped widen my point of view, and have made me see that this country at times can be beautiful. The amazing hills and views you see in the U.S. are a remarkable sight. The very thought of wanting to get out of my own backyard was appealing to me, but not as appealing as getting out of my birth city and seeing another city. To take in the culture of that city and see what makes it what it is now. To see why people love to visit and would continue visiting, to experience what others felt about a different city. I’ve been to a couple of cities, and was able to do so because of a program I was a part of during my junior and senior year of high school called “Upward Bound” through Lourdes University.

The two cities I traveled to in those two years were Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Nashville, Tennessee. Two very different cities with two very different atmospheres. Philadelphia was this great vibrant city, where you can go on the “Rocky Steps,” as in the movie. Its cheese steaks are something to die for, and I can safely say they are the best food I’ve ever tasted. The two restaurants that I know of that sell these cheesy delights is Geno’s Steaks and Pat’s King of Steaks. Philadelphia is a city with history that spans from the American Revolution to now. It’s a city where no matter where you are, there’s always a story behind every building, statue, or street. It was a living city full of stories that makes Philadelphia so vibrant and amazing.

Then came Nashville, the city of music with many different genres, and the proud center of country music. Now I won’t lie, I’ve never been a big fan of music, I hated how it sounded – that is until my visit to Nashville. That visit made me think of country music differently and made me have a respect for it. The Country Music Hall of Fame is an amazing place to go to in Nashville because it gives you the history of country music and how it evolved. It shows the love for country music and why it is such an amazing piece of music. Nashville is a place of pure music. The perfect dream city for any (now) music lover like me, but also for those who likes the many scenes from the city, from going down the Honky Tonk Highway that blasts music all 365 days of the year, to Ryman Auditorium, which has housed many great artists.

These two cities were amazing to visit and travel to simply because of the experience I had. The experiences of traveling to a different city or country is amazing, and eye-opening. They expose you to a culture you haven’t experienced before and widen your point of view of the world around you. Making you ask the question: Where should I travel to next? Traveling is about the trek of a lifetime to go to a place that gets you out of your comfort zone in some way or another, no matter if it’s big or small. No matter the effect, it somehow impacts you.

I want to travel to see more of the world and open my point of view of it.

I want to experience what the rest of the world experience and maybe, get a better idea of this world and what I can do to help it. Traveling is a fun time and an amazing experience that you can’t go wrong with. It’ll make things interesting and keep you mindful that this world is bigger than you, me or anyone else, and it’s something that we tend to forget – and should not.
