MADAME BUTTERFLY
The famous Madame Butterfly is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini, based on John Luther Long’s short story he wrote in 1904. Now, the Capital La Compañía Estudio Lírico of Madrid and the Mediterranean Philharmonic Orchestra are presenting this 170 min show.
This opera is showcased in the Compac Theater Gran Via (C/ Gran Vía, 66) from April 8th– 12th. The hours are as follows:
Wednesdays to Fridays: 20:00 h
Saturday: 19:00
Sunday: 17:30

OFFICIAL PROTECTION HUMOR
Here comes a new edition of this show that has been presented from several years back by Quique Matilla, Nacho García, Álex Clavero, Fran el Chavo, and José Juan Vaquero. They will alternate during the hour and a half with different sketch monologues on the theme of wine.
It will be showcased on April 10th, at 23:30 h., in Marquina Theater (C/ Prim, 11).

BIG BANG DATA
This project looks to reflect about the “data explosion” that surrounds us, and the influence of this situation in our society by analyzing ten different thematic blocks. The data is everywhere: social media, GPS, digital photography… There are advantages, such as the fact that it allows a more transparent management, and disadvantages, such as excessive surveillance.
You can view this project Tuesdays to Sundays, from 10 to 20 h, until May 24th.
It is located at Espacieso Fundación Telefónica (C/ Fuencarral, 3).

“THE LOST IMAGE” SCREENING AND DISCUSSION WITH JORDI ÉVOLE AND FERNANDO LEÓN OF ARANOA
As part of the cycle “Cinema and journalism, between art and the search for the truth,” (see full program here) “The Lost Image,” by Rithy Panh (Camboya, 2013) will be screened in the original subtitled version. It is a film that reflects the hardships during the communist regime dictatorship of Pol Pot, when thousands of people were forced to lose their land and work agricultural jobs. After the screening, there will be a discussion led by the director and screenwriter, Jordi Évole and ernando León of Aranoa (screenwriter and film director).
It will be screened Monday, April 13th, from 18:00 to 21:00 h, at CaixaForum Madrid (Paseo del Prado, 36).

ATRAMENTOS
Atramentos is a black liquid that was used in ancient times to write and paint. This work reflects on the realization and dispersion of the images, by hand or different techniques, almost always reinvented by the author, such as pyrography created with a cigarette or engravings on a mirror with grease. It is run by the Columbian Óscar Muñoz, recognized by the poetics of his works and sophisticated technique.
It is showcased until the 12th of April in Tabacalera- Art Promotion Space (C/ Embajadores, 51). The hours are from Tuesdays to Fridays from 12 to 20 h, and Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 11 to 20h.
