 EXPOMANGA: AN EASTERN-CULTURAL EXPLOSION IN THE CENTER OF MADRID

What:  The XIV Salón de Manga y la Cultura Oriental, or “Expomanga,” returns to Madrid, its 13th year in the city. Expomanga is an event organized by the Comic Friends Association and with the collaboration of various stores and publishers and allows comic enthusiasts to participate in organized activities and contests.  This year, seeing as Expomanga arrives just one week after the release of the new Avengers movie, “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the event will also organize a parade of people dressed-up as Marvel characters.

Where:  Pabellón de Cristal in Casa de Campo. Metro: Lago and Alto de Extremadura

When: May 8th-10th, from 10:00am to 9:00pm.

What:  We provide personal information when filling out internet forms, posting statuses on social media sites, or even looking up addresses on Google Maps or the GPS. But after posting, where does all of this information go? Each day it becomes easier to grab and process the pieces of information that we leave in cyberspace. What is our information being used for really? The Big Bang Data exhibition, which is part of the Fundación Telefónica, tries to answer these questions.  You can visit and learn more about this topic until May 24th.

WHO WOULD OU CHOOSE TO BRING WITH YOU IF YOU WERE DESERTED ON A DESERT ISLAND?

What: Four friends, one student apartment and a big move. The play ¿A quién te llevarías a una isla desierta? creates a setting that evolves around these three elements.  It tells the story of four young adults who look to the future with uncertainty as they are about to embark on a life-changing move. The characters connect with audience members, who are seated on the same stage-level as the actors, through the plot and dialogues.

Where: Theater Lara, Corredera Baja de San Pablo, 15.  Metro: Callao and Tribunal.

When: Sundays at 6:15pm. Beginning June 6th, you can also see the play on Saturdays  at 7:15pm.

What: The Juan March Foundation is organizing an exhibition that will unite over 122 artists, decorators, designers and arquitects who are specialized in the 20th century parisian Art Deco esthetic. The event, titled “El gusto moderno. Art déco en París, 1910-1935,” or “Modern Taste. Art Deco in Paris, 1910-1935,”  will be open to the public until June 28th.

When: Foundation Juan March: Castelló, 77. Metro: Nuñez de Balboa.
