ALCALA DE HENARES, SPAIN. With a doubt, Alcalá de Henares is a very charming city. On December 2nd of 1998, it was proclaimed a World Heritage Site. Among its many tourist attractions, ancient buildings such as the Universidad, the birthplace of Miguel Cervantes and the Archiepiscopal Palace stand out. The Círculo de Contribuyentes’ (The Taxpayers Circle) building, designed by the architect Martin Pastells, has a red brick facade. As Pastells himself stated, this is an “imitation of the Neo-Mudéjar style.”
