MADRID, SPAIN. Stop for a coffee, beer, or snack after surrounding yourself with art at the Thyssen Museum. The terrace provides the perfect place to sit and relax on a warm day.

People having a snack in the Thyssen Museum

People Having a Snack | Robert Persky

The seating is set up on leveled platforms, providing nearly every table or couch area a view of the gardens in front of the entrance to the Thyssen Museum. It is a great place to people watch, and it feels very cool to sit here. The architecture of the place is fascinating, with a minimalist white covering that can actually adapt to provide covering in rain.

The place is high end, and so it is sophisticated. Beer costs 4.00 euros, and copas start at 9.00 euros. I was disappointed to see that the coffee I ordered came from a Nespresso machine. I wished I had ordered a beer on tap like the many people around me. They had an extensive cocktail menu, making me want to come back for a drink in the future. The snack food, salads, and sandwiches all looked very good.

There is a restaurant connected to the terraces called El Mirador that I did not have the chance to check out since it is only open in the summer from June to September. Based on the atmosphere of the Terrazas, it is something I would be interested in going to.

I would add this terraza to a list of cool places to check out in Madrid. Come here on a nice day and enjoy the atmosphere. It is in an ideal location, close to the Prado and Atocha. It is a perfect stop after a museum day, or after a visit to the Botanical Gardens right across.
