COCOCAY, THE BAHAMAS. CocoCay is a beautiful private island located in the Bahamas. It has gorgeous white sand, clear blue water, and plenty of hammocks to relax and enjoy your vacation.

A frequent stop for cruises, CocoCay is a rather small island, but there are two good places to eat: Blackbeard’s Grille and Bahama Jack’s Bar and Grille where you can eat foods like burgers, chicken,  hotdogs, seafood like shrimp and sides, buffet style. They also have a  seaside barbecue where you can grab a quick bite to eat. Bars that serve delicious frozen and mixed beverages are available as well. There is the Wacky Seagull Bar, Junkanoo Jack’s Bar, and Coconut Willies Bar.

The average temperature on the island is about 88 degrees, which means the weather is perfect for water activities. One great attraction on the island is Caylana’s Castle Cove, an aqua park with trampolines in the water, giant floating devices to run and jump on, a water slide, and much more.

The island has very picturesque scenery, which makes it perfect for exploring and enjoying the outdoors. You can take a guided tour that will take you to a private beach where you can go snorkeling and kayaking. Probably the best way to see the island is from a bird’s eye view. You can parasail around the island, and at 400 feet in the air you will be sure to see everything. Also available on CocoCay are rentals for watersports, basketball courts, and scuba diving. Here is a full list of activities and prices.

Since CocoCay is a small island intended for recreational purposes, there is only one place you can really shop for souvenirs. There is a Bahamian-style Straw Market called Coco Logo Shop where the locals sell their handmade items as well as T-shirts and other clothing, hats,  bags, glasses, etc. They only accept cash.

Other notes:

  • If you are one of those people who has always wanted to get your hair braided, you can visit one of the hair braiding places on the island which is near the Junkanoo Jacks Bar.

  • There are plenty of restrooms as well as a First Aid area, you can click here to see the location of the first aid area  as well as all the other places on the island.
