Whilst a leisurely stroll from Gran Via will take roughly 30 minutes, there are also three metro lines – the 4, 5, and 6 – to the Diego de Leon metro in Madrid’s Salamanca district. There are a wide variety of amenities close to the Metro, such as low-cost supermarkets, fast food chains, including McDonalds and Dominos, and cafés at every intersection. A particularly popular pork restaurant – ‘Happig’ – is also located nearby and offers a high quality lunch menu for a reasonable price. Other popular sites are also a short distance away from Salamanca. Madrid’s famous El Parque Retiro is only 20 minutes’ walk into the city. However, closer than Retiro are Los Jardines del Descubrimiento, just 5 minutes from the Diego de Leon Metro metro, where city residents and tourists alike can find a place to relax under the warm Madrid sun.

More so, if looking for a bit of history, the renowned Las Ventas bullring is situated just outside of the Salamanca district, another five minutes’ walk from the metro. As one of the wealthiest districts in Madrid, Salamanca has some of the most expensive real estate prices. And yet, the district is home to many foreign missions, including the United States, Swiss, French, and Italian embassies in Madrid. Those looking to experience traditional Spanish culture, shopping, and cuisine, will not be disappointed by what Salamanca has to offer.
