NEW DELHI, INDIA. On a bitter cold morning, I visited the Hauz Khas Complex in South Delhi. This historic complex of buildings, which date back as early as the 13th century, is now the core of one of the most trendy neighborhoods in the city. But instead of showing you the boutique shops and commercial restaurants, I invite you to take a virtual tour of the buildings that have stood the test of time.
The area of the Hauz Khas Complex is comprised of a huge pond, a series of forts and the tomb of Firoz Shah, the third ruler of the Tughlaq dynasty.
Learning about your hometown is often buried in one’s day-to-day routine. By the end of the visit, I had forgotten about the cold; knowledge had warmed my intellect. Delhi’s rich heritage and culture needs to be preserved, and more people should actively take part in the restoration of these monuments — they are the pride and glory of India.
