Madrid has a lot of Tourist attractions, maybe too much for visiting everything. In particular, if you don’t have time, you could risk to lose something to see. For this reason, a good planning is essential to catch the main monuments in Madrid, without renouncing to the best places and experiences which Madrid can offer. Around the city centre you can find the main tourist places, consequently if you wanted reduce the time of distance from a place to another one, using the subway you can reach them without losing any time. Instead, if you wanted enjoy Madrid more quietly, you can walk for the “Calles”.

1. Palacio Real

It’s possible to start from the “Palacio Real”, one of the main tourist attractions in Madrid. Here lives the Royal family, however you can visit some parts of this Palace. Inside the Palace you can see several attractions, one of the most appreciate is the garden which is within the royal residency. Another interesting fact to watch while you are here is the changing of the Royal Guard, which is done on the first Wednesday, of every month.

Not very far from Palacio Real you can reach the beautiful “Plaza Mayor”. It is the main Square in Madrid, characterised by its rectangular form and its frescoes painted on the frontage of the buildings. Here you can enjoy the street artists or sitting on the bench for admiring the beauty of this square, maybe while you are having a break into one of the Bar in the square.

3. Puerta del Sol

Continuing on the same direction it’s possible to arrive in “Puerta del Sol”, that is the Pulsing Heart of Madrid. Here you can have a lunch into one of typical restaurants, or take a photo with the symbol of Madrid: the Bear and the Arbutus Tree. Moreover, from Puerta del Sol, you can visit other important street, such as Calle Arenal, Calle Fuencarral, Calle del Carmen, or Calle Preciados, where there are many shops of important brands and more. In particular, the famous “El Corte Ingles” offers a lot of products, for your shopping and to have a souvenir of Madrid. Furthermore, from these streets it’s possible to reach other tourist places like “Opera” in Plaza Isabel II and Plaza Callao. In Puerta del Sol there is the Km 0, where starts the spanish Routes. Find the Plate!

4. Some Museums

Museums can be very beautiful to visit but it needs of more time to be seen. However, if you are lovers of the art, Madrid can offers you a great museum experience. In fact, Madrid have many important Museums as El Prado or the Reina Sofia, where you can admire important works of several Spanish and International Artists, such as Picasso, Miro, Goya, Velazquez, etc. If you had more time, you can visit these museums. Moreover, you could save your money, in fact, every day from 6 p.m. the entrance is free into the El prado, and the Reina Sofia allows the free entrance from 13.30 every Sunday.

5. Retiro Garden

If you want find a place where passing the last hours of the day, the Retiro garden can be good solution. Here, there are also some attractions, like the “Crystal palace” or the Lake within the park where you can rent a small boat. Retiro is a park of more than 2 km, where you can relax, enjoying something to Eat or to Drink, before to leave Madrid. Retiro garden is near Calle de Alfonso XII and it’s possible to reach it by subway, Atocha stop, line 1, or Retiro stop, line 2.
