BARCELONA, SPAIN. We all know that traveling can be expensive, but sometimes some of the best sights a city has to offer are free. That’s why I have compiled a list of free things to do in Barcelona.
1. Park Güell
While the center of the park has an entry fee, the rest of the park is free. Besides, you can still see the famous roof of Park Güell from the free access area, as well as see the stairs from the street in front of the Park. The Park has much more to offer than the this main center, there is beautiful architecture at several lookout points that give you some of the best views in Barcelona.
2. Barceloneta
Barceloneta is the beach in Barcelona. Enjoy the Mediterranean breeze and soak up some sun at this popular beach. In the summer it can get quite crowded but right now it’s still early enough in the year that there aren’t too many tourists.
3. The Magic Fountain
This “magic” fountain, located in Montjuic, is a must see for any visit to Barcelona. The fountain “dances” to song favorites and if it’s after dark, it changes colors as well. Not to mention it has the beautiful Palau Nacional and the stretch to Plaça Espanya as its backdrop.
4. Passeig de Gracia
Barcelona is home to many of Gaudi’s most amazing works, but it can get expensive to go inside every one. Take a stroll down Passeig de Gracia to witness Gaudi’s La Pedrera and and Casa Batlló
5. The Gothic Quarter
This neighborhood of Barcelona is home to some amazing Gothic architecture that dates all the way back to Medieval times. This area stretches from La Rambla to Via Laiatana and from the shoreline to Ronda de Sant Pere.
6. Parc de la Ciutadella
Take a stroll through this beautiful park and enjoy some beautiful architecture and the Cascada fountain. Afterwards, make sure and check out the Arc de Triumf which is just outside one of the park’s entrances.
