In one of my latest articles, I’ve told you about my first assignment as a reporter at RGNN: I took part in a bike, box and ballet lesson at B3B Woman Studio. It was a hard job, mainly because I am not particularly an athletic person. Yet, I enjoyed the experience and reporting on it.

This week, I’ve received my second assignment, something much more relaxing. No sweat and tears this time, but dresses and bags. Guess what? I was sent to IFEMA, Madrid’s fair. My job was taking photos of the celebrities and models stepping onto the rose (yes, rose not red) carpet of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the main showcase of Spanish fashion.

In recent years, the Madrid Fashion Week has acquired more prestige. This is because of the sponsorship of an important brand such as the car company Mercedes-Benz. Nevertheless, it isn’t important as the ones of Milan or New York. At least at the moment. But for me it was great anyways!

Among the 43 creators and brands that during the week have disclosed their Autumn/Winter collection 2016-2017, Desigual, ManéMané and Felipe Varela stand out. The last one is famous for being the stylist of the Queen Letizia.

Since I came to Madrid, I have experienced many new things: my first internship abroad in Spain at RGNN and in general, my first work experience, a new way of life and much more.

Also, the Fashion week has been a new experience. This is the reason why I had no idea of what would be awaiting me. So, with a camera and dressed with my best clothes, I arrived in front of IFEMA on February 18th. Loud speakers diffused classical music, creating a joyful and sophisticated atmosphere.

“Am I fashionable enough for a Fashion Week?” was my greatest doubt. You can’t judge a book by its cover, the legend says. Yet, at the Fashion week the cover counts more than the text.

My outfit was composed by black lace-up men’s shoes, a black skirt (Forever 21) and a rose quartz (the color of the year for Pantone…yes, I’ve done my homework) smock by Stradivarius, bought here in Madrid.

I borrowed the coat from my roommate, who the night before said to me “You MUST be stylish, it’s Fashion Week! Don’t joke around. Let’s look for something that I can lend you.” The truth is that I love this coat, but I looked a little silly with it, because of my short height. Anyway, as if on purpose, I was dressed in rose and black, the colors of the Madrid Fashion Week.

Stationed in front of the entrance, placed side by side with photographers and journalists of TVE (the national state-owned public-service television broadcaster) and of other channels and newspapers, I felt important. I observed people, I wrote notes in my notebook and I took photos for the entire week.

Most people came to IFEMA by taxi, then they got off with their strange outfits and entered the revolving door that leads to the fabulous world of catwalks and models.

There were people of every age, everyone dressed with the purpose of being noticed.

“A photo of mine will be published on the official magazine of the Fashion Week”,  a young girl told me, very proud of herself. This is the main purpose of the public: taking part in the world of fashion for a day.

What were the most common outfits on the rose carpet? Men bet on strange and colored socks. Surprisingly, women seem to prefer sneakers rather than heels.

Speaking of colors, the kings of the carpet are pastel colors – especially rose quartz (wow! I get it!) and baby blue – but there are also some people who chose something more lively and wore yellow.

What about textiles? Leather and fur coat are the protagonists, both for men and women.

After some days, waiting in front of the door and dreaming of entering the revolving doors of the pavilion, my mentor at ROOSTERGNN informed me that they have a press accreditation for me.

I’m so happy! It will be amazing.

I’m going to browse catwalks and stands in order to find out what will be trendy during the next seasons. Moreover, having a press accreditation makes me feel like a real journalist. I never thought that during an internship, I would actually get to go write about Fashion Week, what a great opportunity!
