ROCHESTER, NEW YORK. After Grant Wood (American Gothic) was created in 2010 by Devorah Sperber and commissioned by the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, New York. As the artist says about her work, “I am interested in the link between art, science, and technology, how the eyes and brain prioritize, and reality as a subjective experience vs. an absolute truth.”
Specifically, she investigates how the human brain processes the visual world, as visible above. The thread spools visible in the work above, “create such a jolt or ‘WOW” experience when the viewer finally sees the representation imagery in the viewing sphere,” she says.
