Have you ever hug a mountain? If not, here an opportunity to do it. In the mid of September, on the 13th, a human chain will surround the Tre cime di Lavaredo (Three Lavaredo Tops), one of the most famous site of the Dolomites. It will be amazing. And it is completely free!
Six years ago, six thousand people
It is a remake of the 2009 “Dolomites embrace Africa”, which took place in the same place, six years ago. That time six thousand men and women held their hands surrounding the three peaks, creating a human chain. U2 leader Bono Vox supported the initiative by saying “we have mountains to climb, but thanks to this poetic event, it will get easier”. The Irish rockstar showed his support to the Italian organization with a message: “I’m thankful to those who work for poors’ equality and justice and to Tatiana (Councillor for Culture, Education and Youth Policies in Auronzo di Cadore Municipality), who organized this initiative during the Italian summit of G8. We have mountains to climb but thanks to this poetic event, it will get easier”.

On the other hand, if you are coming from the Northern part you should be there at 10 o’clock. It could take more than two hours to go from Auronzo hut (which is set at the foot of Tre Cime) to the human chain’s assigned section.
Why?
This will be a human chain that will be a call for Freedom, Justice, and Peace for everywhere and among everybody. 100 years ago the great World War was fought on that land on the border between Italy and Austria. Today it is where 6,000 people meet and 12,000 hands unite to protect each woman, each man and each child. Dolomites are also a Unesco World Heritage site, so, why not?
Who?
Amnesty International and the NGO Insieme Si Può have dedicated their energy to protect these rights. They are the main partners of this event. Everyone is called to be part of this unique human chain. So, what are you waiting for? It is free, and it will cost you only the price to walk on the most beautiful peaks of the world.
