Women can still stay fit while dealing with pregnancy and post-pregnancy issues: this is what Kristy Dewitz, alongside her insaparable son Tucker, has been proving since she founded Baby Fit Gym, a page dedicated to excercising and mantaining a healthy style of life with Tucker.

In an exclusive interview, ROOSTERGNN spoke to Kristy to know more about what excercise women can practice during and after being pregnant and how to balance workouts and maternity.

Are your training plans suitable for women in general or just pregnant women and/or mothers?

I offer training for everyone. I have been personal training for over 6 years. I offer training throughout pregnancy and also after!

What are the types of exercises you would recommend to women who are pregnant?

My favorite exercises to do while pregnant are squats, lunges, and lateral lunges. You can do them throughout the entire pregnancy without needing to make modifications.

What are the types of exercises you would recommend to women who just gave birth?

Most doctors will recommend waiting 6 weeks to start exercising again. My go to exercises are leg swings, glute bridges, wall sits, and low impact exercises to get your body back into a routine.

Do you follow any special diet? Do you have any dietary recommendations for women who want to stay fit during pregnancy and subsquently as mothers?

I follow a gluten free diet. I love eating clean whole foods. I stay away from processed foods and sugar. I eat high protein and high fat. I feel better and have more energy when I eat low carb.

In your Instagram videos, your son Tucker is present during just about all of the exercises – and participates actively. Aren’t you scared that he might get hurt some time?

Safety is my number one concern as a mother. I am always watching him and I don’t do exercise with him that would make me uncomfortable. He has never got injured and our workouts are a fun bonding time for us!

Do you have any advice for dealing with post-pregnancy issues such as flabby skin, stretch marks, etc.?

Obviously exercise is huge for mental health! However eating a clean healthy diet is so important for dealing with extra skin and stretch marks. I didn’t eat as healthy with my first pregnancy- I gained more weight and had more stretch marks. This 2nd pregnancy I ate very healthily and it paid off. I noticed a huge difference in my recovery.
