With Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO, it seems you never have to leave the house to see a movie anymore. But as a movie buff, I disagree. There are several films that I’ll be going to the cinema to see this year, and I recommend you should, too. Here’s five of the most talked-about upcoming films ranging from action-pack, to family-friendly and horror. Let’s get this show going.

1. Toy Story 4

Although Andy no longer has the toys does not mean we can’t! Toy Story is back with another movie and we’re all here for it. As Bonnie’s new toys, Buzz, Woody, Bo Peep and the entire posse have some tough encounters to face. From what we understand, this adventure all starts with a plastic spork and trying to get him safely back to Bonnie. Sounds a bit odd but hey, gotta love Toy Story! So, buckle up because it’s going to be an interesting ride.

2. Annabelle Comes Home

Guess who’s back, back, back—Annabelle, and this time she ain’t playing no games. Just right when we thought the story ended in the last movie, we are yet again proven wrong. Ed and Lorraine Warren’s 10-year-old daughter and her babysitter experience the most terrifying moment they will ever face in life—a nightmare that is triggered through the scariest doll who is ready to wreak some havoc as always. At least Annabelle is still rockin’ that red lipstick, you get it girl.

Release date: June 26

3. The Lion King

First off, Beyoncé is in this movie. Now that we got that out of the way, our favorite and classic wildlife animals are back but this time in a whole new different light. Goodbye cartoon animation, hello live action. Although I cannot stress enough how much hurt and emotions have struck us before in the scene between Mufasa and Simba, we can’t help but look forward to watching this beautiful work of a movie. Did I mention Beyoncé is in this?

Release date: July 19, 2019

4. IT: Chapter 2

The gang that we all fell in love with in the first movie are now all grown up and life is different, but the nightmare stays the same. The friends embark on a new adventure and it involves kicking Pennywise’s butt…for the second time, of course. After years of separation from one another, it’ll be interesting to see how much things have changed for everyone when meeting once again.

Release date: Sept. 6, 2019

5. Frozen 2

Elsa and Anna return on the big screen! Our favorite pair of sisters appear to be facing some sort of challenge that they face or adventure they take upon. The teaser trailers don’t really give us much to go off but there seems to be a strong connection to the fall season. There are talks of Anna being able to control fall since there is a strong relation to that season in the teaser trailers. Could this be true? If so, this family is full of powers. Whisper, whisper…

There are a handful of other great movies coming out this year like Joker, Maleficent: Mistress of Eviland more! These are just the top five being talked about so far and the list could go on. So, when you’re ready, can you order some pretzel bites for me while you’re getting popcorn? Oh, and save me a seat next next to you. I’m just running a bit late, but should be there soon. Saving up my ticket money now—see you at the theatre!
